I am having tech problems at the moment - hence the few posts. I was trying to improve my defences against comment spam - unsuccesssfully!

Try Haloscan: www.haloscan.com
I get zero junk, and I can ban naughty IP's! If you pay the modest subscription fee you get many additional features, including the ability to edit posted comments, but it seems rather undemocratic to muck about with the prose of others. If they are borderline offensive/illegal then best to ban them. If they just cannae spell/poor grammar then who cares?

Thanks. I will have a look at Haloscan. However this seems to be a special Movable Type (MT) problem. Almost all MT users are facing it at the moment.
The spam is not from humans. It's from from machines. Spammers are detecting MT blogs on the net and then bombarding us with spam. I have just deleted 150. These are posted to old entries with false IPs etc. Each one has a different IP!
I see you are on 'Blogger' so with a bit of luck you may avoid this nonsense.
The blog was more or less repaired this morning, but I still have the problem so I am going to have another go at implement some defences - this time, I hope, without crashing the blog itself.
